Terms of service
These terms govern the use of the Aptli assistant, a service of Tacit Insight Ltd. ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to them. Last updated 27 August 2026.
The service
The Aptli assistant is a chat assistant a site owner embeds on their website. It answers visitors from the site's own content and from material the site owner supplies, proposes actions the site owner has declared, and runs on inference servers in Canada. The console lets the site owner manage content, actions, appearance, users and billing.
Your account
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the content you supply and for the actions you declare. Declared actions run on your site with the authority of your own pages; the visitor confirms each one before it runs.
- You keep your sign-in details and your embed keys confidential. Rotate a key from the console if you believe it has leaked.
- You may add people to your tenant with the roles the console offers. You are responsible for what they do with that access.
- You will place the assistant only on websites you own or are authorised to modify, and you will tell your visitors that an automated assistant is answering them when your local law requires it.
Acceptable use
You will not use the service to collect credentials, payment card data or government identifiers through the assistant, to harass or deceive visitors, to send unsolicited mail, or to interfere with the service or other tenants. We may suspend an assistant that violates these terms after notice, or at once when the violation harms visitors or the service.
Content and data
You own the content you supply and the answers your assistant produces from it. You grant us the licence needed to process that content to run the service. Our handling of personal data is described in the privacy policy. Conversations are processed in Canada and are not retained unless you enable transcript storage, in which case they are encrypted with a key only you hold.
Plans and billing
- The free plan includes a monthly conversation allowance stated in the console. Paid plans are billed monthly per site through Stripe at the price shown when you subscribe, and continue until you cancel.
- You can change or cancel your plan from the billing portal in the console. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
- Prices exclude applicable taxes. We may change prices with 30 days' notice by email; the new price applies from your next billing period.
Availability and support
We operate the service with monitoring, backups of the knowledge store, and support through the console's Support tab. Inference capacity is shared; at busy moments answers queue and arrive in turn. We announce planned maintenance to site owners by email.
Termination
You can delete your assistant and all its data from the console at any time. We may end the service for an account that breaches these terms, or discontinue the service with 90 days' notice, in which case we refund any prepaid unused period.
Liability
The assistant answers from the material it is given and can be wrong. You are responsible for reviewing what your assistant tells visitors and for the actions you declare. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Disputes are resolved in the courts of Ontario.
